Bakers of Danbury carried out a programme of restoration, refurbishment and energy efficiency improvements to St Pancras Almshouse, a Grade II listed Victorian building in Camden. Built around a communal garden, the almshouse has provided affordable housing since 1850 and has 38 self-contained flats for older residents.
Works Programme
The programme included strengthening the existing roofing structure to accommodate the installation of new solar panels, installing external wall insulation and a breathable render system.
The scope of works was as follows:
Scaffolding to provide access for the roof for strengthening works
Strengthening of the existing roof structure to accommodate solar panels
Installation of Steico woodfibre insulation to the external façade
Application of a breathable Baumit StarTop K coloured render system
Underfloor heating to the committee hall, lobby, kitchen with air-source heat pump
